Re: Placebo Effect
exactly my point. (or one of them) doctors know very well that most "diseases" are "lifestyle"
diseases -- like diabetes, for one classic example, and yet you can't get most of them to admit there is any connection between diet and health. (well, look at hospital food). When I had a kidney stone years ago, and ER told me to "go home" and "come back when you can't take it and we'll cut you open", I asked if coffee had any effect on creating stones and they said No. what about cranberry juice, any help? No. Any connection to food? mostly I got a disinterested shrug.
after all, it serves the whole machine to keep people thinking stuff happens for no reason and all and you need to "trust" them to work out if you need surgery, or drugs.
What did help me was finally homeopathic equisetum (horsetail)- I finally was able to pass the stone which was the size of my baby fingertip (with nail)
"placebo effect"? you could say so, I guess. Did i *trust* homeopathics? you bet. I'd seen them work on my baby son who did not even know he was getting them: when they would almost instantly resolve earaches or high fevers, etc. how to explain all that? *his trust"?
well, i've always had a lot more faith in the "unseen" than "appearances"
meanwhile, scientists are still trying to fit an angel into a test tube.( since they doubt God will be so easy to capture)
