Re: Placebo Effect
"placebo effect" is just a label, like cancer or arthritis...( both of which are "idiopathic" diseases in that they are largely self-created. Interestingly, if you look up "idiopathic", some dictionaries define it as having "no known cause" but the roots - the etymology- of the word make it clear. A perfect illustration of how naming something creates "trust" (or causes oneself to believe something) and generates a consequent outcome--like that Tylenol container.
There's no mystery here to be 'discovered' by researchers, although they love to come up with things like "trust plays a big part", as if that were news.
"mind is the builder". it is that simple. if you google that phrase, it'll bring up lots to study, all of which points back to this: thought creates reality. Like attracts like.
"...the potential to be making our own illnesses." Not the potential. we *are* actually doing it.
(so, we can udo it!)
it's not only about herbs and eating according to nature. It's what's in the mind, conscious and unconscious. People will see something when they believe it, not the reverse, as so many of us say (oe: "i'll believe it when I see it)On the contrary. people say thing like "here goes another nail in the coffin", or, "it gives me heart failure" or, "it breaks my heart"...
I know you were asking mh--just thought your curiosity might extend to more than one person's thoughts on this
best,
