Placebo Effect

I would like to get your views on the placebo effect. I really admire your approach to healing, because it brings me new perspectives and ideas on the body and reality... and this is why I choose to ask you.

I recently read an ariticle about the placebo effect in both perscriptions and surgury. And what really seemed amazing to me was how the placebo effect often has just as much success as the actual perscription or surgury. In this article it explained how many surgical procedures have been eliminated because when compared to a placebo surgury it was just as effective. The placebo effect has played out in pretty much every illness ever studied.

What the doctors and researchers have found so far is that trust plays a huge role in the placebo effect. Tylenol for example didnt work as well when it was placed in a no-name container. And placebos placed in a tylenol container worked almost aswell as the actual drug. The same happened with doctors whom patients trusted. If a patient really trusted a doctor, and underwent a placebo treatment... the greater the effect of the placebo. And doctors who are well trusted, often have greater success with their treatments overall.

I find this very amazing at first glance, and am not exactly sure how to interpret it. I have the idea that somehow we may have the potential to be making our own illnesses.
