How fasting affects functioning?

Hi all!
A few days ago I posted saying I was going to begin a 14 day fast...not meaning to flake out, plans changed, so I maintained a mostly raw diet for the past few days instead (with the exception of today's awful-ness...yikes). I'm hoping that the raw food helped shrink my stomach and that now fasting will be a bit easier for me.

So I am now planning on beginning a fast tomorrow for the remainder of January (7-8 days). My only concern is how this will affect my work - I am a college student and being attentive for classes is obviously very important, and I have often backed out of fasts in the past by giving myself the excuse that "I need food to function". I have read about fasting and of the supposed mental clarity that comes along with it - my question to you is how did fasting affect your focus/work? And also, does hunger REALLY go away after 2-4 days?

Thanks for all your help - hope everyone is doing well :)
