Yet if this theory holds true how is it people who get high doses of vitamin C still have heart disease/heart attacks? Genetics aside (though technically vit. C should prevent exacerbation of genetic predisposition according to the paper) what about the people without predisposition who still get the disease?

This is obviously one small part of the total heart disease system.
