Re: Getting ready for first complete water fast
SoulDoc,
like Dr Shelton, Tilden gave everything to his cause, and where both were victims of overwork: even then they both lived to be 90 and 89 respectively. Both did not practice what they preached in this respect.
If not for Natural Hygiene the same can be said for Sylvester Graham, who along with Dr Isaac Jennings MD were considered to be the "fathers" of this approach to physiological living in accord with the laws of Nature, and where Graham was known to have a delicate constitution: Graham would have died much sooner if not for his Hygienic way of life.
On the other hand Paul Bragg only met his demise by accident while surfing in his nineties!!
It is also noteworthy that the Hunzas regularly live active and healthy lives up to the ages of between 110 to 140 years, and who also mostly live in accord with Nature: Dr McCarrison, who made a study of these people, was astounded to find that he could not distinguish father from son while they worked on the land and tended their crops.!!
I personally think that the natural lifespan of man (barring accident) is between 100 to 140 years, but this entirely depends on the lifestyle chosen.
It is also true to say that there are some people who have incredibly strong constitutions, and who throw caution to the wind and who live well into their 90's and beyond, but their overall health is usually one of being inactive, and decrepit.
My father-in-law is now 89 years and was a heavy smoker for most of his life, coupled with fairly heavy drinking, and although living alone by choice, he is unable to climb stairs; is heavily out of breath on the mildest of exertions; and has carers cater for his every need.
Living to a ripe old age is one thing, but Hygiene, if practiced correctly & diligently, will ensure full robust and active health to the end.
