Re: Getting ready for first complete water fast
Chris,
Thanks for all that information. I'll need to read your post a few times to make sure I got it all. I have never heard about "Food Combining". I have read Dr. Joseph Mercola's latest book about nutritional typing, and Dr. Mercola claims that certain individuals are protein types and others are carb types.
I have a book by Dr.
Shelton on order through ILL with my library. It seems like he is the real pioneer in the field of water fasting.
My friend who recently completed a 31 day fast did not wait for hunger to return. I don't know why. I have a feeling his wife begged him to stop out of concern. I would think that 31 days into a fast it would become easy to continue until hunger returns.
So... if you fast until hunger returns versus breaking the fast before hunger returns does that change the method of refeeding? Or is the difference merely that you must exercise a greater degree of restraint against your appetite?
Regarding vegetarianism... It isn't that I don't think I could give up meat, but rather I don't think it will produce optimal health. I believe the Bible completely, and in the Scriptures it is clear that although God intended at the time of Creation for mankind to be vegetarian, He instructed humans to eat meat following the world-wide flood (perhaps due to environmental changes?). I have eliminated most dairy from my diet, and I have seen a remarkable improvement in digestion. My primary non-vegetarian food sources are home-grown eggs (daily), personally-harvested venison (4x per week), and wild-caught fish (2x per week). I believe those three things are especially essential to my health, and for this reason I will not become a dedicated vegetarian. I know that every natural health professional has his pet issue - Mercola, no grains; Schulze, no meat; Shelton, vegetarian. I can't help but wonder if Dr. Shelton's neurological health problems later in life were related to his vegetarianism.
