Re: Root Canal - Front Tooth
I have a temporary bridge that is being clamped to tooth 2 and 13 using a metal wire; snaps on and off. Quite nice considering I haven't decided on which avenue to choose regarding the final product.
My gums and teeth are all healthy. I only chose to remove the
root canal teeth due to chronic health issues. I also had 14 and 15 removed. The molars were taken out in October and the front 7 and 8 were taken out yesterday. The molars were taken out because of shotty
root canals and I was at a point where I decided I wasn't going to put money into a correcting/crown situation; just to have them taken out at a later date.
I mentioned that my smile needs some aesthetic work...tooth 9 and 11 crowd 10 and 11 is somewhat pointed so it is not flush with the other teeth. The top right side is pretty good no work needed. The lower teeth are all there and straight.
I think the problem with my teeth started when I fell on them when I was a kid. It caused great trauma and in the late 60's dentistry wasn't what it is today. Shortly after the
root canals I had to have surgery where they went in through the top of my teeth through the gums. I was a child and the details are not clear. Of course that was supposed to fix the problem. Then as years went by other dentists would say that the xrays looked questionable but nothing was ever suggested...so I would be sent on my merry way. About 6 years ago a dentist did discuss the xrays and gave me more information but never suggested that there could be something done. Only after experiencing health issues and doing my own research did I find possible answers. I was extemely impressed with Weston Price and his findings. Then when dentists today site his findings I was convinced. The teeth that came out yesterday convinced me I did the right thing. The roots were blackish brown and the dentist did find a cyst. I actually saved the teeth because it is unbelievable how they look....and they were in my head!
I have discussed with my dentist options for the replacement teeth. At first I was shying away from the implants because of having metal in my body; my whole objective with removing the teeth is to bring my body into a better state of health. I do have at least 6 months to see how my body responds to removing the teeth before I choose what to do.
As for living near a dental dept. We live 3 miles from Ohio State U. but I have friends that have gone to the dental clinic and have had problems with basic procedures...I need to find the best I can because the teeth I need to have replaced are right there in front. And with fixing the other teeth I want it to be as close to perfect as I can get. I also need a plan of action that I can do in stages due to financial reasons. Darn it I just don't have 10,000 to put out for my teeth all at once. I am planning on replacing 14 and 15 as well. You make a good point about the teeth being able to do the job they were designed for. I will most likely do implants if the research supports no health issues.
Any more info or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you for you time.
