Re: CoNsTiPaTiOn...!!! (heeelllp)

Yes, yes, yes...stress has a tremendous effect on the digestive system and greatly contributes to constipation! During stress or heightened emotions, blood is diverted away from the digestive system and towards the heart and large muscles of the arms and legs as part of the flight-or-fight response. It is an adaptive response in acute situations, but is very destructive when it becomes chronic. Nutrients and energy are also diverted along with the blood so the digestive functioning is compromised...in some cases it shuts down entirely. The bowel muscles are also very sensitve and will contract tightly during stress...including the two anal sphincters.

Scarlet...from reading your other posts it sounds like you have several things going on that are interconnected. Liver congestion can contribute to constipation and problems with digesting fat. parasites can add to the liver congestion, and the die-off from a parasite cleanse can aggravate it...especially if the bowels are not moving regularly to eliminate the toxins from your body. In turn, the consitpation can contribute to the liver congestion...and round and round it goes! This is one of the reasons that it is important to cleanse the organs of elimination and get things moving before you address the organs of detoxification...liver/gallbladder. Use enemas or colonics to get things moving and ease up on any fiber when you are constipated as it can further bind you. Go to the Bowel Cleanse Archive forum and look for my post...The Many Causes of Constipation...and see if this gives you additional clues for how to address it. If you don't keep your bowels moving when you're doing any type of cleansing you'll likely feel worse instead of better.
