Of course The Lord chose us, but our relationship should be based on the fact that WE CHOOSE HIM [out of LOVE for Him].

HarmonicCharge,

That was actually a very nice and true thing to tell that person. God does take special notice of those who have enough confidence/trust to be themselves and do what is not usually considered "cooth", proper, and "acceptable". God does not care that we sin "against" (violate) man's codes of table manners, dress codes, codes of etiquette, etc. (propriety). The prodigal son even "sinned against" heaven/rightness (but heaven suffered no damage/harm). It was the dad who was a VICTIM (the gift was ruined), but since the son repented (learned) and returned to (trusted in the dad's loving kindness) his dad, the dad reacted the same as God.

The Lord DOES want to know "THE PERSON" (the TRUE inner "self", there should be no "self abasement", Colossians 2:18, 23) so that there can be a PERSONAL relationship (with all of our idiosyncrasies, habits, faults, attitudes, etc.) and we don't deprive The Lord of also having a personal relationship with us (the true us, a two way relationship)...

James 4:5
"He yearns jealously...".

Apparently, that person is doing the ONLY "works" that we are obligated/supposed to do (the "works of God").

John 6:28
"Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?"

John 9:3
"Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be MADE MANIFEST "IN" him" (be done in him, change him, effect his behavior/attitudes, calm and assure him).

No doubt, that person has full confidence the creator has everything "all wrapped up" (probably always has had full confidence in the creator) and simply wishes to "draw near" out of LOVE (Hebrews 11:6) instead of just have a relationship basd on the ability to BELIEVE something (faith, we should have a "FAITH FOR faith", Romans 1:17).

I have faith in the laws of physics, but I don't love them, just having a "FAITH" is useless to God's spirit.

True to form, the creator will reward him (Hebrews 11:6) with "the depths of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10) and a "more excellent" (1 Corin. 12:31) devotion based on "the greatest of these" (1 Corin. 13:13) so that he can receive the only baptism we need (Ephesians 4:5, "living water" baptism of God's spirit, 1 John 5:6, John 7:38, Rev. 7:16, Acts 1:5). John The Baptist baptized with H2O (wetness never effected anyone's behavior/attitudes), but God's spirit was not given until Jesus was glorified (John 7:39).

Aside from those ancients who had the prophecies in the old scriptures, humanity used to have no "HOPE" of returning to the creator in the afterlife. Jesus brought hope so that all flesh shall have salvation available to them,...
Luke 3:6
"and all flesh shall see the salvation of God".

but the GUARANTEE is having a peaceful and just Godlike nature (God is no respecter of mere PERSONALITIES, He only has regard for a person's true NATURE)...
Ephesians 1:14
"which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it,...".

Just as a son has the same DNA as the dad, we also have the same spiritual makeup as the creator (human beings were originally made "in His image", but so many have chosen to ignore our innate knowledge in exchange for man's "knowledge") and need only acknowledge "the anointing" (1 John 2:27), be quickened, and learn the truth about the creator.

The inner and outer temples (there should be no worship centers/churches/temples) are based on what Jesus built/"raised" in His three days on the cross...
John 2:21
"But he spoke of the temple of his body".

1 Corin. 3:16
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

1 Corin. 6:19
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within...?".

Amos 5:21
"I hate..."

No "public prayer", no "jump/shout" patronizing, flattery, or "worship with lips" (love only).

Jesus abolished the sin laws (Ephes. 2:15), we should live under the law of liberty (PERFECT law)...
James 1:25
"But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty..."

James 2:12
"So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty".

...and let our love be made PERFECT (1 John 4:18, Mark 12:30. Isaiah 29:13), knowing God as "Abba Father", not master/taskmaster (Galatians 4:6) and be a "friend of God" (James 2:23), not slave/servant.

So now we can "walk by the spirit" (Galatians 5:16 and 25) and enter "by the door" (John 10:1), avoid the "hirelings" (verse 13).

The word "trinity" is simply man's mathematical classification of 3 ("God is ONE", Galatians 3:20, Colossians 2:9).

The bible ("word of truth", 2 Timothy 2:15, Ephesians 1"13, John 14:6) is the INTRODUCTORY doctrine of Jesus (Hebrews 6:1). The real word of God is the "sword of the spirit" (Ephes. 6:17), and the bible is NOT an "authority"...
Matthew 28:18
"And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me".

All throughout history, mankind has chosen to have the self imposed "strong delusion" because...
2 Thessalonians 2:10
"they refused to love the truth AND SO BE SAVED"

Mankind has always preferred subjective truth rather than the real, true, OBJECTIVE truth (the reason God had Pilate ask "What is TRUTH?" was for us to notice).

When a person is the kind of person that would prefer peaceful coexistence among humanity, they will value the "knowledge" of good/evil (the tree eaten of in the Garden (instead of mere "morality" code right wrong) and will learn to make a clear distinction (Hebrews 5:14) as with a "SWORD" of a very Godlike nature/spirit so there is no "variation or shadow" when good changes to evil (James 1:17).

When the perfect (no one is "GOOD"/perfect but God alone, we can only "practice goodness") comes, the imperfect shall pass away (1 Corinthians 13:10) and we shall enter the new heaven (Rev. 21:1).

Many things done "under the sun" (in this world) are "grevious" (Ecclesiastes 2:17) to me and make me "poor in spirit" (the attitude of having a present inner heaven, Matthew 5:3).

I use the RSV (most accurate and uncorrupted). Many modern versions have been made politically correct and lost meaning.

Godspeed in a "more excellent" devotion.
