Re: 1/40 day water fasting

By using laxatives to take out toxins, as you put it, are you not also taking out important minerals or nutrients? May be minerals the body needs to do its good fasting job, its way. May be toxins too should leave the body in an order predetermined by the body itself.

I understand you want to help nature. We all want to do that. But, while fasting....are not minerals (the bad and the good) in a proportion the body can best work with them?

I believe the body "plays" with the proportions of good stuff/bad stuff within us as he knows best according to Mother Nature. I believe it will preserve some things, will get rid of others.. I am really convinced the body itself is deviced to know best the when, how, how much and routes to dispose of the toxins. This is verified by the different healing crisis.

You may be be depleting, letting go of things that the body may need later on. Is it not better to leave the body alone, to do its own cleansing his way?

You may be unable to keep your fast later on because of the "help" you are giving to your fasting body now.

I am only an student and still need to do my first long fast, but according to my readings, it is a lot better to leave the body alone to do its thing.

This is said with respect. I look up to your determination to fast.

I simply question all these self-help techniques (laxatives, enemas, OP, etc) It looks they can be very indicated for non fasting periods.
