Is cardiomegaly permanent?

Is this a permanent condition or is it reversable? I haven't seen my doctor yet to go over test results but will see in about 2 wks. I have a 2D echo done of the heart (under 40 yrs) and the technologist told me that by looking at the images on the ultrasound she could tell that I've had high blood pressure for a long time. She says that she found evidence that there is a thickening going on in the heart or enlarged heart (cardiomegaly). I've had high blood pressure for close to 10 yrs without medication of any kind. My pressure reads about 150/100 something like that. Doc just put me on lisonopril recently.
