Re: A Warning to you all.
InCharge,
I am not prepared to enter into a lengthy debate as to the whys and wherefores of the message within my original post: I think the meaning was clear and hopefully served its purpose.
However, as a final note, ALL professionally qualified Doctors within Natural Hygiene, or that have anything to do with the professional supervision of long fasts, have stressed the absolute need for supervision in serious health conditions, and I for one am not going against the grain, as this is by far the safest option.
Your analogy with Big Pharma is not a parallel with this viewpoint as we first seek professional advice either from medical/alternative Doctors first, and then discuss the appropriate treatment plans thereafter; it is the opinion of the professionally qualified person/s here that really matters.
If Fasting supervisors wanted to avoid litigation and the possibility of being sued by a faster under their supervision, then I doubt they would warn of the dangers of the fast being unsupervised, by inviting supervision in the first place: I don't think that this argument really holds water.
My use of the word "warning" was I think appropriate, relevant, and accurate as far as I am concerned, as there are some inherent dangers to the fasting process, even for those who only wish to lose weight, and although they are minimal they are still there, and where potential/actual fasters need to be aware of them for their own safety before undertaking a fast of great length that is self-supervised. The original post was intended to be precautionary........nothing more and nothing less.
I do not agree that a warning may push someone to opt for surgery and the removal of body-parts instead of undertaking a fast: it is best to be entirely open and straightforward about the fasting process from the outset, because if something did happen adversely to the health of that individual, there could be serious repercussions as to WHY they were not informed beforehand.
I do not give (and have never intended to offer) absolute medical/health advice, but only my opinion based on my own experiences, and that of qualified personnel from the annals of fasting and natural hygienic literature. That is all.
I have not posted an article on garlic in the breaking news forum: perhaps you could point to the link.
As far as garlic is concerned you had better ask the people who use it, and as for the FDA who are in the pocket of Big Pharma, you cannot believe anything they have to say either, unless it has to do with the promotion and sale of drugs and making obscene amounts of money.

Quote.."The point is that advising people of potential pitfalls in what ever, is about all that you should do. Then you have put the seed of thought into their minds, and from there it is up to them to investigate whether you're full of beans, or know what you're talking about."
I agree with your first sentence InCharge.
The second sentence also, and where each and every member should rightly investigate the information for themselves (democracy).
As for being full of beans..................only the sprouted variety, as they are far more nutritious.
Do I know what I am talking about?................Is the Pope a Catholic?
However, I am still learning all the time, and from other members/forums in particular, but I would think that 30 years of previous study should count for something!
Don't you?
