Stones of cholesterol or calcium--how to know?

I am continuing reading and read on line (but cannot remember the source off hand) that if your stones are made of calcium, do not attempt a flush. How would you know that? I think maybe a doctor could tell you, would an ultrasound indicate that? What is the general consensus here about that issue?
