Re: Being healed when the "time is right"?

"Where exactly is that taught? That it will happen "in time"?"

Insight, first of all throughout the bible, we learn that God is sovereign. It is about Him, His plan, His will. It's not all about us, and that is hard for us, because our flesh wants it to be about us, our plan, and our will. If we're sick, we want healing and we want it now. But God does often have a better plan than just quickly healing us, and that's where we are just called to trust Him. But because He doesn't just outright heal us by a miracle, doesn't mean He isn't going to heal us at all, and it doesn't mean He doesn't have us go through a long process of doing all kinds of things for healing to come.

Galatians 6:9 says 9Let us not become weary in doing good, FOR AT THE PROPER TIME we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

These scriiptures do not talk about God's timing but they talk about how everything is in his power including healing:
Deut. 32:39 See now that I, I am He, and there is no god besides Me; it is I who puts to death and gives life. I have wounded, and it is I who heals; and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

Sam. 2:6-7 The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. The Lord makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts.

Isaiah 45:6,7 There is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well being and creating calamity . I am the Lord who does all these.

These scriiptures state that we have our plans, but it is ultimately the Lord's will that will come about:

Pr. 16:9 The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Pr. 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but the counsel of the Lord will be established.

Isaiah 14:24 The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand.

This is a great one and I believe it is saying at a particular time, AT THE RIGHT TIME ACCORDING TO THE LORD, these things will happen:
Micah4:6-7 In that day, declares the Lord, I will assemble the lame, and gather the outcasts, EVEN THOSE I HAVE AFFLICTED. I will make the lame a remnant, and the outcasts a strong nation, and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on and forever.

It is important as Christians to realize that God really is in control of everthing. He is Sovereign. This teaching is severely lacking in the majority of Christian churches today, and it is leading many christians to believe that everything is up to them----they think christianity is a works based religion which is what every false religion of the world is based on--------our works! Our works can't save us or sanctify us! It is Christ works in us that saves us and sanctifies us! And He has promised to save and sanctify all His sheep.
Once we understand that we are completely dependent on Christ for everything, and that He is sovereingn, we can see that everything in our lives depends on His mercy and grace and that He even uses suffering for our good. Christians will suffer. It is promised in the Bible, but it is for our good.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
—2 Corinthians 4:8-11

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
—2 Corinthians 12:10

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
1 Peter 4:16

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
—1 Peter 4:12-14, 16

Insight, you stated that all who came to Christ while He was on earth were healed, but I ask you how you know that? How do we know He healed everyone?
You also said He never procrastinated in healing anyone, but we know He did wait to heal Lazarus. He waited so long that Lazarus died, and lots of people were upset with him over waiting. This is what He said to the disciples about His purpose in waiting:
John 11:15 15and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

The point in all this I'm trying to make is that God is good and He is sovereign, whether we see outright miracles of healing, or we don't. If he leaves us in suffering of an illness, that doesn't mean He's turned his back on us. He has His perfect plan, and He does include suffering. Jesus suffered on this earth more than we can imagine, and we will suffer too if we are followers of Him.

Now before I get accussed of believing that we sit and do nothing when we have an illness, let me address that really quick, for I have been accused of that countless times. My wife is ill, and we work hard in every way we know and can for her to get better. But we do it all by first praying for God's direction, strength, motivation, and everything else we need to fight through it all. And we depend on Him for the process of it and the result of it. By His strengh we are working hard everyday and we trust in His purpose and plan all the while as He works through us to do all we need to do.

We are never going to understand all this in this life. Insight, I've asked your original question countless times myself, "Why are there not so many healing miracles like we see in the Bible anymore." But I don't think it's because there are no people with faith anymore. Although I do think those of us with faith are definitely in the minority. I don't know why we don't see so many healing miracles today but I still believe God is sovereign and so He is carrying out His plan regardless and that gives me hope and peace.

I think it's good to ask the questions though. We learn that way. I continually asks questions myself and imagine I will never stop. We will never know everything about God. We will be learning for eternity and that is exciting!
