Anal itching with anti-fungals, is this normal?

I have just been diagnosed through a stool analysis that I have a very bad case of Candida. My DO says it's systemic and also have a fungal infection.

He put me Cipro (because it was the only drug that would work in the lab on the specimen) and I can use that for the viral infections that I also was diagnosed as having. He also has me taking (2) Cyprilic Acid 600mg 3 times a day, and Nystatin oral rinses 3 times a day.

I have been on that course for 8 days. I started to notice an INTENSE itch about 3 days ago in my anus. Is this normal and if so, what is it and is there anything I can do to help it?!

I read somewhere that putting a clove of garlic in your rectum will help? Is that to rid the Candida or help the itch.

I sure hope I get some response, this is miserable.

Thanks!
