Re: Albert Mosséri

Hello pawel110,
I have come across Albert Mosséri before but in only in passing, and have not really had the time to study his works and/or observation on the fast and Natural Hygiene generally.
However, from what you have mentioned, food-reserves are indeed necessary for the elimination of toxins, but only to sustain the body nutritionally in the abstention of food, and while they last, the body will continue with this elimination unabated and until the genuine return of hunger.

Hereward Carrington wrote of a race between the elimination of toxins and the supply of food reserves, and where if the latter runs out (with the return of hunger) then elimination is not as successful as desired. More than one fast may be needed for the successful elimination of these toxins after years of their accumulation.

Mosséri is in the minority in Hygienic circles and where I for one do not agree with him (neither would Shelton) and where we mustn't forget that it was Dr Shelton who originally coined the term Natural Hygiene as distinct from any other form of hygiene or natural health modality. He was, and still is THE authority on the fasting process and Natural Hygiene generally.

Weight-loss stabilization can be accounted for in other ways as the acceleration of the elimination of toxins and not the other way around as Mosséri professes. No loss of weight for several days is of no consequence and is insignificant to the outcome of the fast despite the claims to the contrary made by him.
*************************************************************************

"At the end of this period, elimination slows down, as revealed in the following symptoms:
# weight loss slows to 1-2 pounds a week, stabilizing about every
three days ... it was 1-2 pounds a day before... the loss of weight
signifies a strong elimination of toxins and retained water, which
are urinated ...when elimination weakens, we don't urinate much...
this stabilization of the weight is the main signal to begin the
half-fast."
WEIGHT-LOSS SLOWS DOWN TO 1-2 pounds PER WEEK AS THIS IS THE BODYS INNATE METHOD OF CONSERVING FOOD RESERVES. THIS ENABLES THE FAST TO EXTEND FOR AS LONG A PERIOD OF TIME AS POSSIBLE IN TIMES OF FAMINE AND FOOD-SHORTAGES AND THE HEALING OF THE SICK/INJURED/DISEASED ANIMAL/HUMAN

# thirst disappears and drinking water is difficult, before, elimination
created the need to drink in order to dilute the poisons and expel
them in the urine.
WATER DRINKING IS DICTATED BY THIRST ALONE AND WHERE THE BODY HAS LESS NEED FOR IT WHILE FASTING THAN AT OTHER TIMES. MOST FASTERS DO NOT DRINK VERY MUCH AT ALL OR EVEN HAVE THE NEED TO. THE BODY IS 70% WATER, BUT EXTRA WATER-DRINKING DOES NOT ASSIST IN THE ELIMINATION OF TOXINS VIA THE URINE OR ANYWHERE ELSE SUCH AS THE SKIN. EXTRA WATER-DRINKING DURING A FAST WILL ONLY ADD TO THE BURDEN ON THE KIDNEYS.
Mosséri STATEMENT HERE IS A FALLACY AND WOULD BE DISAGREED WITH BY MOST HYGIENISTS.

# the coating of the tongue is lighter in color and thickness, and the
bad taste in the mouth lessens.
TRUE. WHEN THE ELIMINATION OF TOXINS IS NEARING ITS END.

# other symptoms specific to each individual can also reveal a
slowdown in elimination.
SUCH AS??

# Thus, when these symptoms of the slowing of elimination appear,
it must be relaunched, by breaking the fast and replenishing the
body with nutrients in the form of raw, natural foods:
NOT TRUE. AS STATED BEFORE THERE IS NO SLOWING OF THE ELIMINATION OF TOXINS ONLY THE CONSERVATION OF FOOD RESERVES BY THE BODY AND LESS WEIGHT LOSS AS A RESULT.

It was also Sheltons experience, and that of my own, that an Elimination Diet followed post fast is not nearly as efficient in this elimination or healing as the Water Fast itself...........

It is true that a fast of any length should be terminated & broken properly to preserve the benefits accrued, and where Shelton employed the drinking of juices rather than solid food, but it was his colleague Dr Virginia Vetrano who employed the breaking of a "finish fast" with solids as the body would be more than receptive in eating wholesome food from the outset. However, he did continue with the breaking of fasts with juices in cases where hunger had not returned, and where assimilation was poor so as to nurture digestive activity back into normality.

Animals in Nature will only have the choice of solid food in which to break a fast, as they would normally continue until hunger returns and there would be a demand for nourishment.

The end of a complete fast is marked by several unmistakable symptoms which include clear urine and a clear tongue..........
The Breath, which during all or most of the fast has been offensive, becomes sweet and clean.
The Tongue becomes clean. The thick coating which remained on it throughout most of the fast vanishes.
The Temperature, which may have been sub-normal or above normal, returns to exactly normal, where it remains.
The Pulse becomes normal in time and rhythm.
The Skin reactions and other reactions become normal.
The Bad Taste in the mouth ceases.
Salivary Secretion becomes normal.
The Eyes become bright and eye sight improves.
The Excreta loses its odor. The Urine becomes light.

However, the PRIMARY indication that the fast is to be broken is the return of hunger; all the other indications are secondary. Often one or more of these secondary signs are absent when hunger returns, but one should not refrain from breaking the fast when there is an unmistakable demand for food, merely because the tongue, for example, is not clean. Inasmuch as all the signs do not invariably appear in each case, do not hesitate to break the fast when hunger returns.

In conclusion (and from what you have commented) I don't think that Albert Mosséri can be taken all that seriously, as indeed he wouldn't be by any Professional Natural Hygienist, from the mid-1850's to the present day.

Regards

Chrisb1.
