For the past 2 months I have only used Borax dissolved in water to wet my hair then rinse in water then 1/8 teaspoon citric acid dissolved in 8 cups of water to rinse the hair again to maintain a proper Ph balance of the scalp. Don't rinse out the citric acid though. I love it unless someone tells me otherwise. It's cheap a box of Borax is 4-5$ and the bag of citric acid less than 5$ and will last for a very long time. This idea I got from a Dr. Clark book. My hair has more body and is shiny and if I do have to colour my hair (grey) the colour lasts longer. I have had a section of my eyelashes which didn't grow for years and now the hairs are growing in. Irritations on my scalp from colouring and expensive salon shampoos have healed also. Using the borax in the dish water with a tiny drop of Sunlight soap (I still have a thing for needing to have bubbles)has made my hands much softer and my hairs are hard as rocks and cuticles look great, I had rather rough ugly looking hands and nails. I use the Mule20 Borax for everything from laundry to dishes to cleaning the bathroom and mopping the floor. There is a recipe for skin lotion also from Dr. Clark which I have made and use every day.
For me this has been my greatest adjustment being a daughter of a hairdresser and will never go back.
