we are basically the inflammatory phase or we aren't in any phase... we need to stimulate the proliferative phase.

it mentions the extracellular matrix.. the same stuff that regrew that mans finger... it says the environment for this to happens is it has to have oxygen.
I know blood carries oxygen. So it stimulates this phase.. and our lips aren't bloody when we peel.. i'll look around for stuff that may help
