Look into what is good to feed the soil during the in between season.
I know that you want to add stuff to the soil which will replenish it before the next planting.
I remember my grandfather loading his pickup with cow manure from some farm and mixing it into the soil in the fall.
Also, he had a friend at a lobster shop who would set aside all the shells from cooked lobster and crab and he would bury bushels of this stuff in the soil.
Over years it became the richest most fertile soil I have ever seen.
The vegetables that came out of that garden were out of this world.
