Re: commments on this website wanted
Hello #83873,
very interesting and stimulating post (to put it mildly)!!!
The meat v vegetarian/vegan debate !!
In answer to the support for meat-eating, where without it we will all suffer and die from horrible diseases!!!
Their quotation that "Vegetarians Have the Shortest Lifespan on Earth"......is absolute & complete nonsense..............
#1.One of many examples are The Hunzas who live on a vegetarian/vegan diet for 99% of the time and only have meat occasionally on special occasions: they routinely live to be a healthy and very active 140 (yes you did read that correctly) ONE HUNDRED & FORTY years of age, and are mostly disease-free, and where no degenerative diseases are even heard of let alone experienced. There is no cancer, heart-disease or any other serious ailment known to them and where outsiders are unable to distinguish between the ages of parents and their adult children. So much for meat eating.!!!
#2. The headline of the website states "Vegan v High Protein Diet".
High protein diets with very few carbohydrates have been demonstrated to leach calcium from the bones and therefore a cause of osteoporosis, where the Atkins Diet was discredited for this very reason.
#3. This statement from the website..............is absolutely untrue and a lie of mega-proportions. (see below the quote)
"Vegetarians have been brainwashed into thinking vegetarianism is a healthy way of eating. You will find on any osteoporosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or other inflammatory bowel disease forum that 80% of the sufferers are vegetarians or ex-vegans. Yet, only 6% of the population are vegetarians. The protein deficient vegan diet will blow your guts out, cause degenerative disk disease and kill you with cancer or a hemorrhagic stroke, guaranteed."
Fruit and vegetables are widely known to be a prophylactic against disease and anti-carcinogenic.

I have been living on a basically vegan/vegetarian raw food diet for nigh on 30 years: disease-free, with a state of wellness & energy I never knew existed in the first 24 years of my life. However, I do eat the occasional piece of organic chicken and oily fish, but only in the last couple of years or so and as a matter of choice and not necessity.
Just one more comment about the meat eating saga.
The source of protein that meat-eaters say that vegans and vegetarians are deficient in, is also complete nonsense................

This is a subject that I could continue with indefinitely but time is of a premium.
BTW. There is also the moral question of meat-eating, where the starving peoples of the World could be adequately fed, by redirecting the grain used to feed cattle.
