How the dog got giardia.....

We came home from the rafting trip and we had to wash the mud off of some of the equipment, cloths, etc. Because of the heat in Arizona, I always kept a child's wading pool on the patio for the dogs. My husband (at the time) put the muddy stuff in the dogs wading pool to rinse it off. Dogs were drinking out of the pool during this process. The older dog did not get sick but the puppy got real sick. It was so strange that several people who I told the story to afterwards knew about giardia, but the vet was clueless. I wonder how many other poor dogs were diagnosed incorrectly..... Tweet
