Re: Sharing experiences
"Hardly as well researched or authoritative but all from the heart so to speak."
Good post. Me too. Those who have done a fast have valuable experience to share with those who have not done one, so I don't think anyone who has fasted - or even tried in the early stages and not lasted long - should underestimate the value of their experience, and how helpful it is to share that with others who are trying to fast for the first time.
I also notice how sometimes I see a post, and think "what an obscure question, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever..." and then out of the blue someone completely unexpected answers that in great detail, based on their own experience, much to the delight of the original poster. That's the benefit of a forum, lots of people with a variety of experiences and from different backgrounds.
The "you gotta want to do it" thing is something that I have come across before, and indeed, in trying, you re-asses what your aims are, so problem sorted, in a slightly different way than what you originally intended.
It's like getting from A to B, you can sit there and say "I'll never do it!", or you can venture out and put your left leg forward, then your right, then your left, and as you move you will see if you are heading in the right direction or not and be able to make corrections and changes as you progress.
But - in perspective - having Chrisb1 here with his wealth of experience and background reading is like having the Encyclopaedia Britannica of Natural Hygiene on the forum! Others too are starting to read up I notice, recently Chiron prompted me to read Purinton, which was really interesting, so thanks Chiron.
