Gardening Question...

Hi Moreless and Everyone,

To be honest, I'm not much of a gardener, but I'm trying to learn. We have a patch of raspberries which I'm trying to improve the brix of the fruit. So after studying this forum for the last while, I decided to add kelp and organic fish fertilizer, plus regular compost in the spring. This summer I've noticed a huge improvement in the quatlity of the plants...huge leaves and thick strong stocks and the fruit seems to be better too. Anyway, my mom who has passed on now, always told me to not fertilize after the beginning of July because the new growth will not have enough time to "harden off" for winter. I've always lived by this rule, but I'm wanting to add some more kelp in the fall and I'm wondering if that's ok or should I wait until spring? I bought 6 lbs of kelp from Maine Coast Sea Vegetables and I want to add some of it to the garden.

So can I add it anytime..sping, summer, fall or is there a time that is best for adding it. Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but like I said...I'm not a gardener.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer me.

Striveon
