Re: --Self evident--Edited

I guess the overall issue is your misrepresentation of biblical concepts.
I do not know you, I only read your posts on this forum.
I am not making judgments against you. Our doctrines shape our concepts and thought processes.
I would like to challenge you to do an honest study on the sovereignty of God.
Misunderstanding the sovereignty of God leads us to take the focus off of Christ and put on ourselves instead, which is anti the message of the bible.
I will agree the church as a body is more focused these days on new building projects instead of performing the duties they were called for.
That is why it is important to call out our elders when we see them begin to stray down these paths.
I am happy to say that the church I attend is tuned in to the needs of the body.
It is not my job to feed the sick or help the widows, it is the church's job.
I wish I had enough money to provide for every needy person out there.
That is why the body is needed and why we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

As far as prayer is concerned, I think it is important to understand the role of prayer.

I would like to present a quote because it represents the role of prayer so well.

The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.

Soren Kierkegaard

I would like to challenge anyone out there who has an illness or is supporting a loved one who has an illness to put your focus on Jesus Christ.
Do not focus on your desire or effort, but instead turn your focus on God into tunnel vision.

 Romans 9

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

An excerpt from a wonderful song.

When you´re dull from all that glitters,
when you´re thoughts have a hollow ring,
when you can´t escape from the fact you are getting it wrong...
All your foolproof plans seem foolish, all your status is status quo,
all your really need to know is where you belong.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in his wonderful face.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace.
