Re: "Exfoliative cheilitis successfully treated with topical tacrolimus"

how about this article (Sept. 2007):

This conclusion makes me sad:

"No appropriate treatment has been identified for this condition because the cause remains unclear. Patients seem to have no choice but to wait for this condition to resolve by itself."

Below are other academic articles, with citations. From my research so far, EC seems to be unconsciously self-inflicted with a psychological component. It's possible that it was initially brought on by a stressful event; non-infectious, EC can occur in individuals who are otherwise healthy (i.e., nothing wrong with adrenals, thyroid, liver, etc.)

Successful treatment/management may be psychotherapy.

Man, EC is Sooo elusive! I guess simply being happy & accepting things might work. But I AM a happy, psychologically-stable individual, and still this happened -- so frustrating! This is such an elusive condition, it makes me want to go back to school and take neuroscience just to try to understand what it is in our brains that is triggering this in our bodies.
