--Melon vines & Melons--

Hi Ya'll,

This year some of my Melon vines got Bigger than I have ever had any in the past !

I planted Watermelons and Cantaloupe and Honey Dews !

Over the years my Cantaloupe and Honey dew melons have cross-pollinated and I just save the seed from the Best ones !

One hill of the Honey dew cross with cantaloupe had it's vine comming out of the ground to get as Big as "2 & 3/4" inches in Diameter, this was the biggest ever ! This vine had 6 large melons on it of approx 7-8 inches in Diameter each ! The one we have eaten had flesh more than 2 inches thick inside the melon and was very Sweet!

Most of the Cantaloupe and honey dew had vines that got over 1 1/4 inch in Diameter and up!

The watermelon vines did not get as large Diameter as the Cantaloupe and Honey Dew, but most of them got over 1 inch in Diameter !

This may not mean much to most folks who have never seen the size most melon vines get, which is generally Less than 1/2 inch in Diameter !

In order for a melon to produce Top Quality, it must have a Bigger Diameter vine to send the food to the Melon !
