There is no comparison between the a priori assumption of the creationist and the empirical, naturalistic explanations. Science doesn't seek certainty, nor does any scientist think it can be achieved. It is the flawed thinking of the supernaturalists that seek 100% certainty; who ever told you so lied. And in their quest creationists, will buy into any junk explanation that feels good as long as it declares it is true - as in THE TRUTH. Science only seeks facts and then models to explain those facts and make predictions. When it comes to that, the Theory of Evolution is the only satisfactory model that explains the known facts.
People oppose evolution do so on a philosphical basis. There is nothing inherently different from the Theory of Evolution to the Atomic Theory, Theory of Gravity, Quantum Theory, or Theory of Relativity. The reason people do not oppose these is that it doesn't personally affect their religious beliefs.
