Re: Evolution is a fact.
You are correct... in terms of "defined" species within genus. I probably should have chosen my words a bit more carefully :)
Given that different "species" exist within a genus, and different "species" (according to human classifications) develop, split, or change and adapt to their environment and niche, through isolation, etc., a better term for me to have chosen in my post would have been "genus", or perhaps even "family". In addition, since species, within the same class, may (or may not) be able to interbreed, creating "hybrids", it was a poor word choice on my part.
Thanks for catching that.
- "The claims behind creationism can and HAVE been falsified - the simplest one for people to understand would be the age of the earth and the occurrence of a world wide flood both of which are easily debunked."
If you are referring to the "creation science" movement and their "science", I would agree that it is flawed for the same reasons that evolutionary
Science can, and is flawed at times as well... they both base their foundation on theoretical interpretations of what is "believed" to be scientific fact. As we have seen, time and again,
Science is continually evolving, throwing out "theories" and "beliefs" as they are continually debunked, when people were once and still are killed, imprisoned, and blackballed for going against the
Science of the day. Either one is merely a belief based upon "faith". No one will really ever know with 100% certainty about it.
As I had stated previously, they are both half right... and both half wrong. The truth is somewhere in the middle, the middle being pretty wide... and as far as "creation" is concerned, I am not talking about the biblical interpretation of creation and some all powerful guy in the sky creation... I am talking about a universal force or energy that manifests itself on this sphere we call earth that enables life to exist here in the first place... I am both grateful and thankful for that. Pretty powerful stuff if you ask me.
We are more powerful than we could ever imagine... it is our own minds, and trivial pursuits of "fill-in-the-blank", that limits us.
