Yoga has invented Inversions thousands of years ago as a aid to maintain good health. Headstand is called the king of asanas.
An inversion table/yoga sling is just an aid to maintain an inverted pose for a longer duration.
My Yoga teacher says inversions are extremely beneficial, but some folks are just scared to go upside down. People who do go upside down will heal their bodies from inside out. Couple of minutes of full inversion is equal to couple of hours of sleep.
Keep doing your research. Dont listen to anyone. Just listen to your body....
