Re: Question for the experienced ones here

Hello again chocolatecake,
the use of laxatives stimulates the bowels into activity where its own work of movement is taken over: this makes the bowels even more sluggish and lazy, which ultimately leads to even more & frequent constipation. Laxatives are therefore not advisable.

I would only attempt an enema PRIOR to the commencement of a fast if your constipation is of a long-standing nature and not just temporary. I also concur with Fonty, as some peoples idea of constipation is not really constipation at all...........leave the bowels alone and they will take care of themselves.

Although you have been eating vegetables with some fish for the last 5 weeks, I would break your current 7 day fast with high-water-content-fruits such as oranges and apples: these foods contain fiber and water and will stimulate your digestive system into activity along with bowel movements. And that is a distinct yes to continue with your 7 day fast BECAUSE of your symptoms, but you must rest as much as possible during this period of fatigue and dizzy spells to receive the maximum benefit for such a short fast.

Regards

Chrisb1.
