Re: Cascara Sagrada
Nope, I don't advise using laxatives and certainly not on a supplemental basis. If constipation is a problem the underlying causes need to be addressed...sufficient water, high-fiber diet, exercise, cleansing a toxic bowel, replacing beneficial bacteria, etc. Enemas or
colonics are a much better alternative to laxatives...sometimes they are not practical or desired, though. In those cases, herbal laxatives can be used, but only on occassion. During a
Colon Cleanse constipation can occur as a result of insufficient water, increased toxins released but yet expelled or due to the dislodging of a large amount of mucoid plaque that clogs the pipes. In such cases it is a good idea to cut back on the cleanse a bit and use an enema or
colonic to flush out the colon. Laxatives would be a last resort.
It's interesting that you raised the question about the temperature of the shakes...I tried using warm water because I didn't like taking them cold in the morning and I found that they set up much faster if the water is not cold. If you can slug it back before it turns to gel then the warm water would be fine.
