thanks very much! it was a very complicated situation, but yes, i've been raising my daughter alone since she was three months old. her father was abusive and it got to the point where BOTH our lives were in danger, so one day, when i knew he was going to be gone for a few hours, i fled with my daughter and just the clothes on our backs to a women's shelter. my husband went to jail and i had to re-build my life from scratch.

reports of my age on the other hand have been vastly underestimated though... i'm actually 31 :) so i got my degree in english literature long before my daughter was even a twinkle in my eye :) people are always very surprised when they find out my real age... i credit my youthful appearance to my spirituality and a really good diet!

i think the cost of childcare here in canada is just as bad as it is in the uk. but i am very fortunate... due to my extreme circumstances and the long, drawn out court proceedings, my daughter's daycare has been subsidized by the government.
