Re: Will this clear up?
you're very welcome, motherweary!
the symptoms i had similar to yours were the heavy legs and arms feeling... like movement was a HUGE effort, it felt like i was making my way through molasses if i had to do anything, even just the smallest movement. the short walk taking my daughter to daycare was like climbing mount everest! i also found myself having that "short fuse" you mentioned... my patience with my daughter was a little thin, and i was very sensitive to loud sounds, so sometimes i found myself cringing when her voice became boisterous and loud. all my symptoms started clearing up at around the 17th day... that's why i took it to be the sign that my fast was nearing completion. by the 20th day i had much more energy and my overall outlook was greatly improved.
i got my ketostix at my local drugmart. i had to ask the pharmacist for them because they were behind the counter, and you get about 50 of them for $10.00. they're not necessary, but it's fun and rewarding to see how your body really IS doing what it's supposed to do :) you simply put them in your urine, and depending on your state of ketosis, it will change colour. i noticed that the worse i felt, the darker the colour, so it was definitely positive reinforcement for me. you start feeling glad that you feel bad, because it really means the bad stuff is coming out.
i do plan for another three day fast as soon as i finish most of the fresh produce i have in my fridge. and i've been SO inspired by reinvented (she did a 35 day fast, and then about a week after she finished, her body told her to another undetermined length one). so if i'm feeling as good as reinvented, i may go even longer than the three days. normally, you're supposed to re-feed for the amount of days that you fasted in order to replenish nutrient stores. it's been 14 days re-feeding for me, so by the time i start my 3-day fast, it will probably be close to 20 days anyway.
good luck with your continued fasting!
yours truly,
bella lucia
