I'm sorry to hear that your family makes you feel bad, I know that must hurt. However, if you go to this family function with an attitude of loving yourself then you will project that image and hopefully people will treat you accordingly. If they don't then that is their problem not yours, just ignore them.
To answer your questions on fasting, first off if you don't succeed the first time try again until you do succeed. I have been fasting for 11 days now and I have lost 16 pounds, the first days I lost a little over 2
pounds then it leveled off to 1 pound a day. Its different for each person, but I'm about the same size as you are. So if you choose to fast until the function on the 23rd I would think you could easily lose 10
pounds or more.
There are many benefits to
Water Fasting and weight loss is only one of them. Maybe you should wait until after the function when you are not under so much pressure to fast. If you do fast until the function and break the fast when you go to the function you will need to refeed properly or it could do damage to you. I haven't run in to that yet because I'm still fasting, but I've read many posts regarding the importance of breaking the fast properly.
I was a smoker also and no you shouldn't smoke during a fast. Having said that, I did smoke until after several days cigarettes started tasting bad to me so I don't smoke anymore. I brought up that same question on this forum. Its on page 114 and its called Smoking, read the tread, I got some great information that I'm sure will help you.
On the matter of your boyfriend, I'll try to be nice, but if I were you I would rethink my relationship with him. If someone truly loves you then your size should not matter at all. Maybe he's concerned with your health?
