Fasting and Weight Loss: Loose Skin / Stretch Marks - do they disappear?


I thought I would post this as a debate, because I can see a few people are fasting at the moment and it has been mentioned a few times of late. It applies to people who are fasting and intend to lose a lot of weight. Also there are questions about stretch marks from pregnancy. Can fasting resolve these problems?

In short I don't know yet. I was 118Kg in November, now I am 85Kg, I intend to get to
59Kg (x2.2 for pounds). I noticed some saggy skin with fat behind it around my waist as I dropped from 46 inches to 36 inches, so thought it was a good idea not to push it too fast. However, I think the skin seems to tighten a little between fasts, although I have no real way of measuring this. I am also brushing my skin before showering, as I read this helps. I heard that Cocoa butter helps too, but I have not used that as I don't want to introduce anything artificial. At the moment it is not a big problem, but I can see a potential problem there, especially as I start to lose all the fat around my stomach area, especially near my navel.

One factor which apparently affect skin elasticity and its ability to tighten up is age. However I am not sure if the change occurs gradually or quickly, or at what age it becomes a problem, if at all.

I have seen some pretty awful videos of loose skin on youtube. I have also read that surgery is necessary in some cases, but of course plastic surgeons would say that wouldn't they? I have no intention of having any kind of surgery whatsoever. However I am not sure what is the best way to prevent or get rid of loose skin when fasting.

Common sense tells me that my body will take up the slack skin if it doesn't need it, but a lot of mainstream opinion out there says it won't. I am optimistic however, especially when I read Fonty's posts a week or so ago that he got rid of his by fasting.

So does anyone have any examples, links, tips, stories, out there? I may take some pics in the later stages of my fast and post them here. I hope they show that the loose skin really does disappear!!
