Sun Damage to Skin and I Supplementation...?
Hey all,
I have a friend who has severe skin damage from years of sailing. Always going to the dermatologist to get things dug out and removed (she says, "Let's take that off before it reaches the bone" -- eek! how's that for a scare tactic?) and then of course takes it off. He says his insurance is sky-high because he is considered cancerous. Anyway, is there any concise post that discusses
Iodine supp, either internal or external, repairing severe sun damage? I did a search and came up with related stuff but thought I would ask you all too. I never seem to be too successful with searches.
He seemed pretty skeptical ("IO-dine???") when I talked to him, but got more interested when I, a self-described burn-and-peeler (we both have dark blond hair and blue eyes) said that Ann, Merry and I all used an iodine-coconut/sesame oil blend last summer for sunblock and did not get burned at all told him about it. (Granted, we were not on the high seas all day manning yachts, but...).
However, some objective opinions and experience are good, and I also wonder if any of the io-docs have some sun-damage specific stuff that anyone can think of. Wasn't it Dr. Brownstein who said that I repairs skin from the inside out at the cellular level?
Anyway. I am sure I will have no luck with this guy based on past experience. But...you never know. I decided to hold off on the oil pulling suggestion until I had provided some concise
Iodine references. One step at a time, in other words.
Thanks to all for the 411 here....
Best,
Laura
