Re: My first day

Hmm, fasting for weight loss huh? Same as me. And I have about the same amount as you to go, even though I am past the half way mark!

Don't worry too much about putting on weight when refeeding, you will. The important thing is that you are going in the right direction overall. For example on my last fast I went from 90 Kg to 80 Kg, in English, that's about 22 pounds. But I was a bit lazy on the refeeding, and when I do that I usually put on 5 or 6 Kgs. Here's my graph. It has already peaked after my last fast, and now it goes down gradually, until I feel like doing the next one, which I usually time to fit into my social and work schedules. My eating patterns did not change suddenly when my weight peaked, they were much the same. I generally feel that I am a little more energetic after the peak, I assume that is because my body has finished restocking itself after the fast, thereafter my weight drops naturally, because my fasting experiences have taught me to eat healthy food (a BIG benefit from fasting!).

I have experimented, and once I managed to stay more or less the same weight after a fast, but it wasn't fun, and I found it took a longer time for me to feel full of energy again. I assume the mechanics of this strict end-of-fast weight control is that I am still "dieting" after the fast, and while my body weight is staying the same, I am probably losing fat and putting on fluid, reserves and stocking up my alimentary canal, so my overall body weight stays the same.

These days I am not at all freaked out by a 5Kg increase, I am only concerned with the overall progress.

I am sure you will do well with the support you will get here, and I hope you enjoy the fasting experience and journey! Good luck!
