This is exactly what was said to me by THREE doctors: "The hormone level with the Mirena is so low that is stays local, and does not even enter the bloodstream. This is why it is safe to use while breastfeeding." I was also told that the mini-pill is a great choice for nursing moms. But pills aren't for me.
