Re: new to water fasting, please need advice
My best advice is this... read a book on fasting first!!!!!! Just jumping in isn't a great idea imo, unless you are critically ill.
Read "The Miracle of Fasting" from Bragg.
Shelton is ok also.
Bragg recommends the following:
1) Start with a 24 hour fast for the first two weeks. Continue this for the rest of your life (unless a longer fast replaces it on certain weeks)
2) After you've done two 1-day fasts, do a 3 day fast once every 3 weeks.
3) After you've done six 30-day fasts, you can do a 10 day fast every 2-3 months.
>>how much water should i drink?
10+ glasses of distilled water a day. Buy a distiller, not bottled water if possible
>>should i take any supplements?
No, it makes the fast pointless if you're taking supplements, the idea is to REST your digestive system. If it's not resting, you body is healing as fast and you're not getting as much benefit. Also, eating small amounts will keep you hungry the entire fast instead of just the first 2 days.
>>should i exercise?
Walking or yoga at most, especially if it's your first fast it could be quite intense. Let your body decide what it wants to do. The idea for the fast is you want your body to purge old toxins and heal old wounds, it can't do as much if you're putting new stress on it.
>>how good is it for detoxing?
It's the best and the fastest. Maybe the hardest.
The first two days are hard, you just have to grin and bear it.
>>and around how many
pounds of fat will i lose? i weigh about 130lbs
You should not fast if you have a weight condition (enemic?). Most people can fast for 30 days without food.
I would not do your first fast without being able to rest the entire time. Do it on a weekend or something. You might find your first fast is very intense, you don't want to do at work vomiting, feeling sick, headaches, or unable to rest. These are all detox symptoms and are very good, but you will need to rest.
I highly recommend anyone new to fasting to do some reading before doing a fast, all these questions and more. If you don't know how to break a fast, you also need to read.
