Re: Medical Assistence

Hi Rafael,

Your English is very good, and we understand you, so don't let that stop you from communicating with us.  I only wish I knew Portuguese as well as you know English :)

Underarm odor is something many sufferers in this and other body odor forums have been suffering with and some still have not found a solution to it.  It seems that when it is so very difficult to correct, it has to be in part caused by an internal metabolic condition which may also be combined with a localized microbial infection.  You can probably treat this infection with your dermatologist, but the metabolic aspect of it, which is bloodborne, is the difficult part to treat.  You might want to ask your dermatologist if he/she thinks it would be helpful to do a culture & sensitivity test of your underarm to determine what microbial growth you may have, and what medication works best at killing it, if you like.  This might answer some of your questions, and possibly help minimize the odor.

Much research is needed to identify the exact cause of the various odor producing metabolic conditions, and as far as I know, the only one already diagnosed is Trimethylaminuria (TMAU).  See the following 2 websites from the (US.) National Institute of Health, , and for additional information on TMAU.

Unfortunately, most doctors have still not heard of TMAU in the U.S. and abroad, and unfortunately, even scientists do not fully understand other types of metabolic conditions that produce body odor of various types, underarm, bad breath, body fluids, etc.  To find out where you could be tested in or near Brazil or anywhere else in the world, you can email the Trimethylaminuria Foundation at and tell them where you live.  They can provide you with a wealth of online information.

Therefore, the only option many sufferers have found is to turn to each other in these forums for advice.  Unfortunately, with very little professional guidance we discover remedies and diets online, and with Dr. Arun Nagrath’s helpful posts in this and other forums, who is also a sufferer of body odor.

I do recommend that you and all other CureZone members also visit the other Body Odor Support groups to find valuable information they may have found so that you can bring it back to us to share it at CureZone.  We can all use as much help as we can get from each member.  I found the following posts in the MSN forum that I think might help regarding Arun’s diet recommendation. .

Here are the websites of some of the other body odor forums:

I’m certain there are more forums, but I’m not familiar with them.

Good luck, and please let us know how it goes with your doctor.  We can all learn from each other.
