will fasting cure my allergies?
hi everyone :)
here is my dilemma. my favourite food in the world is fruit. but my whole life, i've been sensitive to strawberries, citrus fruits, and tomatoes. sometimes i'd get eczema from eating those foods, sometimes nothing. THEN, last summer, when i became 80% raw, i got a huge flare-up of allergies/eczema from eating pretty much any fruit, and i had to one by one eliminate them from my diet, in order of the ones causing the biggest reactions... strawberries first, then tomatoes, then melons, lemons, pears, bananas, avocados, etc. so i've been without fruit for the past few months which has left me feeling totally sad and deprived. i wanted to fast in order to heal these allergies. i know that it won't happen right away, and that i have a lot of fasting and hard work ahead of me.
but recently, i did a week-long
Water Fast and i've reintroduced a few fruits. i was ECSTATIC when i was able to eat them without reaction! i thought to myself "this is amazing! this is too good to be true!". but today, as i was eating some strawberries, i felt that familiar tingling itchy feeling around my lips and eyelids. can i hold on to the hope that with more fasting i can cure myself of my allergies for good??? the only advice i've gotten from mainstream allergy doctors is that i must cut the offending foods from my diet FOREVER. i find that too depressing to think about.
i even had a few sessions with a hypnotherapist who was convinced that he could hypnotize me out of my allergies, but it was to no avail... (something about teaching my subconscious and my immune system to not react so violently to harmless stimuli). incidentally, i also tried the hypnotherapy in an attempt to lessen my headache/nausea type reactions to perfumes and chemicals, but this also didn't work.
does anyone have any info/links of WHY fruit is causing these kind of skin-type allergies in me?
just out of curiosity, can fasting cure any allergy? even the anaphylactic shock kind? how about asthma type allergies?
thanks!
