Re: refeeding & proteins

Hello l*u*l*u*
All foods contain a combination of proteins/carbohydrates, it is just that they are more or less dominant in some foods than others, so either way you will be receiving the proteins you need from your diet if it is of sufficient variation.
Shelton is of course correct in his assessment of the need for more protein-rich foods during the refeeding phase and less so in a maintenance diet, but only after the first 6 to 7 days of breaking the fast.

The very best high quality proteins within a raw food Natural Hygiene diet are:
#1.Nuts & Seeds of all kinds:
Pumpkin Seeds....21% Protein
Sunflower seeds...17% "
Walnuts Black....13% "
Sesame seeds.....13% "
Almonds...........12% "
Cashews...........12% "

#2. Legumes.
Broad Beans.......32%
Lentils...........29%
Split Peas........28%
Kidney Beans......26%
Navy Beans........26%
Lima Beans........26%

#3. Various vegetables.
Spirulina......60%
Spinach........49%
Watercress.....46%
Kale...........45%
Broccoli.......45%
Brussel Sprouts..44%
Cauliflower......40%

#4. Grains.
Wheat Germ.....31%
Rye............20%
Wheat..........17%
Wild rice......16%
Buckwheat......15%

#5. and to a lesser extent fruits.
AVOCADOS...not sure about the % here, but the avocado is a substitute for meat in Mexico and is one of the most valuable protein foods that you can eat.
Lemons.....16%
Honeydew Melon.....10%
Cantaloupe 9%

#5. Some Dairy.
Eggs, fertile free range......the complete protein food and not always recommended by NH.
Goats Milk Cheese and Goats Milk Yoghurt....controversial but I eat them with much benefit.

You are just not going to suffer from a protein deficiency, and have more than enough protein for your body, as long as the replenishment period is of a very wide choice of foods.
I strongly doubt, whether any of the fasters on the forum, have suffered from a protein deficiency, or have not received enough protein for good health, even after the most prolonged fast.

Do you know, or have ever known, anyone who has been reported with a protein deficiency?
No?...........I haven't either.

Warm Regards

Chrisb1
