refeeding & proteins
hi!
i am looking into refeeding for when i end my current fast. since i will be fasting to completion, i am hoping that i will not experience the difficulties i have had breaking my previous 2 fasts.
i found this information from shelton:
'There is greater need for protein after a long fast than for carbohydrates. As the fasting individual who has had a long fast will build tissue rapidly, he will require more protein than that contained in a maintenance diet. High grade proteins will be required and these should be as fresh and wholesome as the market affords. It should hardly be necessary to add that the full portion of protein daily cannot be started from the first day the fast is broken.'
what constitutes a protein in raw food diets?
i don't want to gain back much weight and i certainly don't want to gain any amounts of fluid (i'd really like to be done with that symptom forever!) - so i want to make sure i am providing my body with the appropriate building blocks to facilitate ongoing healing after my fast.
so i also found this:
'The building blocks of protein consist of 23 amino acids. Eight of these have been proven to be essential for the support of life and growth.'
by Arnold DeVries from 'Fountain of Youth'
All of the following contain these eight essential amino acids:
Fruits
Bananas
Tomatoes
Dates
Nuts
Almonds
Coconuts
Filberts
Walnuts
Brazil Nuts
Pecans
Sunflower Seeds
Vegetables
Alfalfa Sprouts
Bean Sprouts
Carrots
Corn
Eggplants
Sweet Potatoes
Broccoli
Cabbages
Okra
Squashes
from the information i've read, it would appear that coconuts are the most superior of this list. does that mean i can make a warm coconut milk broth and add in raw vegetables to make a soup? (it's cold here! but i don't want to eat too much cooked food during refeeding - or after)
any advice/info much appreciated!
thanks!
