Re: Day31WF: Blood Pressure Q and trying to decide when to end
Hello #83873,
I think it was a wise decision that you ended your fast on the 32nd day.
It is unfortunate that you have not been able to have your electrolyte balance & levels measured by your Doctor, as this would probably reveal the real cause of your increased BP during your fast.
The experience of the majority of fasting supervisors report that fasting will normally correct high blood pressure without drugs. It will also normalize blood pressure in the vast majority of cases; the blood pressure will usually remain low after the fast as well, if that person follows a health-supporting diet and lifestyle.
I have personally never heard of a case where there was a rise in blood pressure towards the end of a prolonged fast, in my entire 30 years of study of Natural Hygiene and Fasting, except in the case of low electrolytes and in particular low potassium salts.
An established & common problem associated with reduced potassium salts or potassium electrolytes is hypertension, and for whatever reason, and in your own case, fasting for an extended period of time for these electrolyte levels not to be adequate.
Potassium deficiency needn't also be the ONLY electrolyte deficiency that you are experiencing; it is just that the other possible electrolyte deficiencies have not revealed themselves in a tangible or symptomatic way.
