Re: Yes, beaten (for now?)
Hello.
In answer to the original question; Yes
In 1991, after four years of deteriorating health with all the sorts of symptoms commonly associated with candida and various other chronic infections I was diagnosed by my MD through blood tests to have lyme disease. This launched me on an intensive path of
Antibiotics beginning with one full month on IV
Antibiotics . Concurrently with the
Antibiotics I took probiotics, albeit of a poor quality.
I then spent four years experiencing remissions and relapses with many courses of powerful antibiotics used to treat most of the relapses. The antibiotics did provide me with a better quality of life overall (most of the time) but I never felt truly well. During remissions I was able to become somewhat active in sports again, and I could work, although not consistently. I did develop some new symptoms (fuzzy tongue and new digestive problems) at this time and as one might expect, I ran into a significant candida/fungal problem due to the damage done to my intestinal flora.
After the total of eight years suffering from profound symptoms and poor and unreliable health in spite of mainstream medical care I was getting pretty darn discouraged and I came to a point of personal crisis - Do I continue fighting with the same tools and resources or do I assume that there is in fact a viable solution to my illness that would permit me to get on with my life? I had to assume the later because I just could not accept that my life would continue on such a miserable, uncertain path.
To make a long story shortish, I chose to fully explore alternative healing approaches and in doing so I became greatly encouraged. I threw myself into taking full responsibility for my own health care and I put together a program that I hoped would support my body in its natural healing processes.
As a result, I overcame advanced chronic lyme disease, systemic candidiasis, and goodness knows what all else.
This is a long way of saying that, YES, chronic and systemic candida can be overcome. It has been thirteen years since I have suffered from lyme, candida, or any other pathogen related illness. I continue to this day to enjoy health as I never had prior to my extended illness, and on those few occasions when I have contracted a cold of flu it has been of very short duration and generally with such mild symptoms that I cannot say I suffered. Heck, a flu for me is 3 to 6 hours of grumpiness with some sore muscles and a low fever. I usually do not even realize what it is until it is over.
I have met others who have beaten chronic and degenerative illnesses and many others who have not been particularly successful in doing so. The puzzle of figuring out what works for each of us due to our individual and unique biological makeup is forever causing frustration and confusion for those who are seeking answers to their personal health challenges.
I know that what worked for me may not work for the next person, and may even cause them to have a negative outcome. I encourage all of you to continue to seek for your own personal solutions and to be open to the possibility that your answer may not be the same as any other persons who you come in contact with. Then again, if you are reading here on curezone then you are already more aware than the vast majority of people dealing with health challenges that if we are to heal it is for the most part up to us and us alone to find the right path, the willpower, the resources necessary for our desired outcome.
The Cole's Notes version of what I did that supported my healing:
High water intake with electrolytes
High water content, high raw vegan diet
Chose organic whenever possible
Absolute avoidance of alcohol and processed foods
Avoided grains and most fruit initially
Juice fasting - repeatedly
Spirulina, blue-green algae, chlorella, wheatgrass
Discontinued all medications
Lots of high quality probiotics and prebiotics
Lymphatic drainage with skin brushing, rebounding, massage
Intestinal cleansing including colonics, enemas, herbal/fiber cleanses, aloe vera juice
Grapefruit seed extract (wish I had had access to olive leaf extract and oil of wild oregano etc)
Berberine herbs
Colloidal Silver
Lots of digestive enzymes
Threw out all commercial cleaning products ( personal and household )
Removed all suspected sources of mould from house and auto
Avoided any environment where I would be exposed to cigarette smoke
Saunas and steam rooms
Went to Hawaii and lay in the sun for two weeks
Avoided/resolved toxic relationships
Looked for/created opportunities to laugh and smile
I went through the most tumultuous and uncertain three and a half months of my life as I stuck stubbornly to my program. I got sick, I broke out in spots and eczema. Also what looked like
Psoriasis formed around my navel, back of my neck and around my ears. I ached and felt like I had frequent attacks of the flu. Mucous drained out, got coughed up and generally showed up. I got scared and on a couple of occasions I had such profound attacks of fear that I thought I might be killing myself. I also experienced the first moments of joyous energy that I had had in over eight years, along with the lifting of the perpetual brain fog (What a relief that was). At first I loss even more weight and friends and family were convinced that I had lost all good sense.
I slowly began to feel generally better, although I never knew when some other detox symptom would arise or I might slide backwards for a day or more. Sometimes I believed that even with all the apparent progress I was still not going to truly heal.
And then one morning I awoke, clear headed, full of energy, and it was only 5 am. I got out of bed, had a light breakfast and went for a walk in the park. I realized then that I was well again... for some reason I really believed it, and from that day I have continued to lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoy great health and vitality.
I play my sports, I travel, I have a great life, and every day I am profoundly grateful for the lessons I learnt though my extended illness and my return to good health.
I wish for all of you the very best in reclaiming your health and happiness.
May peace and joy be with you.
