Re: Immunization and reduced risk of meningitis

You may not have noticed, but here are the qualifications of the persons who wrote and edited the article on aseptic meningitis to which I linked:

Author: Tarakad S Ramachandran, MD, Chief, Department of Neurology, Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital; Professor, Department of Neurology, State University of New York Upstate Medical University

Tarakad S Ramachandran is a member of the following medical societies: American Academy of Clinical Electroencephalographers, American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Pain Medicine, American College of Forensic Examiners, American College of Managed Care Medicine, American College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Royal Society of Medicine

Coauthor(s): Prem C Shukla, MD, Associate Chairman, Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; Uma Iyer, MD, Staff Physician, Department of Neurology, State University of New York Upstate Medical Center

Editors: Norman C Reynolds Jr, MD, Professor, Department of Neurology, Medical College of Wisconsin; Francisco Talavera, PharmD, PhD, Senior Pharmacy Editor, eMedicine; Glenn Lopate, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Neurology, Division of Neuromuscular Diseases, Washington University School of Medicine; Chief of Neurology, St Louis ConnectCare, Consulting Staff, Barnes Jewish Hospital; Selim R Benbadis, MD, Professor, Director of Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery, University of South Florida School of Medicine, Tampa General Hospital; Nicholas Y Lorenzo, MD, Chief Editor, eMedicine Neurology; Consulting Staff, Neurology Specialists and Consultants

Compare those qualifications to those of the person who wrote the article to which rwardin linked.

None are listed. The author is apparently an Australian journalist who turns out a lot of antivax nonsense and has no credentials in medicine or virology.

But that's the great thing about being an antivaxer. Anyone can get online and issue page after page of drool on the subject. ;)
