I think it's not so much a question of what went wrong, but what went right. I have to agree with 'that air guy'-you're finally getting to the deep bacteria that are living in your gums and perio pockets. The tissue that they have been munching on for some time is inflamed and that is why it burns. If you consistently clear out the bugs every twenty-four hour period with H2O2 (Hydrogen-Peroxid) and follow up with ozonated olive oil on the gums afterwards,the bugs have no time to colonize and the tissues will heal.
Don't freak out. The fizzing and foaming is the H2O2 (Hydrogen-Peroxid) oxidizing the bugs and necrotic tissue.
