Re: DQ: The one factor that has been unknown by most humans...
"...in a way that is more satisfying to you"
still very egoic in vibration imv. -- given that "you" do not actually have recognition (and self-realization) of your Divine nature--else there would not be this continual strategy of 'becoming'(more).
just a comment/opinion on the quote, not the quotee.
I also think the notion of an existent general truth of well-being as "understood by the beasts," is a bit of a stretch. A bit outdated, as an idea. One of the pervasive states of the animal realm (which this planet *is*, more than the human one)is bewilderment. An entrapment in the sensate world of reaction. (You can see many humans living this way too. Some have barely made it out of animal form and are still acting *from* that consciousness.) It serves our ego-selves to fantasize that animals are essentially blissfully going about existence. Some are better off (more evolved) than others, and some are even bodhisattvas (those who've incarnated out of a compassionate vow to be of service. But *most* are not conscious of 'well-being' per se, since there is too much identification with the senses. If their lives are simpler--well, sure: they struggle less in thought and rationalization, guilt, etc.
And we humans could learn a lot from animals, including compassion--for them AND our own predicament. yet--We have so many opportunities to hear and reflect on the teachings of truth--to meet the teachings of awakening--while they (animals) are mostly engaged in simply living, surviving, and too close to experience to 'reflect' on being *attentive* to it. Being *witness*. They are attentive, yes, but suffer being subject to each other, *and* us.
(that last is perhaps the most sobering consideration)
