"I am who I am" wants SELF.
I realize that to MANY, many people the world over, a claim that the law of COMMANDMENTS and also the ORDINANCES/(percieved commands of the New testament) is no longer what pleases God (and has been done away with) will be considered 'heresy' by the masses of the world who enthusiastically cling to them as a lifeline of spirituality (which is why many will HATE to hear this), but the 'roadmap to heaven' that everyone seems to feel comfortable with by reading the bible as an 'instruction book', is NOT the 'be all and end all' of Christianity. The introductory doctrine (elementary doctrine, word of truth) serves well the baby Christian (baby Christians are still "men of the flesh").

Man's institutional churches teach "babes in Christ", but not "growth in the spirit"/maturity.
You can choose to LOVE the Ten COMMANDMENTS...

and think of all of Our Heavenly Father's good advice in scripture ("wise counsel") as COMMANDS/ordinances, OR you can choose to reserve your love for GOD (remember, He is a jealous God, HE died on the cross, NOT His Body, not "the book", or pastors, scholars, etc. (don't worship them).
You might also feel that you should LOVE the bible (really not possible, but I guess it seems to be if there is no CLEAR "SELF", who is it that has always encouraged SELF abasement...not The Lord's spirit)...

You can TRUST (have FAITH in anything/anyone you choose), just like you TRUST/faith the laws of physics, etc. (God may not be so appreciative of that).
You can also offer Him 'FEAR of Him' as though He's an evil monster (difficult to love who you FEAR, but lack of a CLEAR sense of SELF will make it easier).
When someone gets hurt (regardless of who CAUSED them to be HURT and suffer misfortune/consequences), should the Christian be more concerned that a sin against propriety was committed (not much compassion there), or that the person SUFFERS? (tears of sorrow can only come from a SELF/conscience).
The prodigal son did 'not' sin against 'propriety', he left home and mispent (mocking his father's generosity and love) his share of his father's life savings. This was grossly wrong (sin against heaven), yet his father was the one who was 'WRONGED'). The son's father reacted with loving kindness instead of retaliation/resentment. It's the "sin" that is AGAINST A PERSON and causes SUFFERING/consequences that a Christian should be concerned with (compassion/sorrow), but how is 'concern'/empathy possible if there is no sense of SELF? (if there is no sense of SELF, you can't relate to others).
The ancient Jews (Pharisees) also had a "script" to follow (as we are taught, their "devotion" was merely SCRIPTural) and had no empathy for each other.
Man's doctrines of "command/sin/law/text/faith" are INSUFFICIENT/inadequate for a GODLY Christian.
Godly Christians must live under the law of liberty (conscience) and be sovereign BEFORE The Lord (accountable initially to conscience and ultimately to God).
